Energy industries play a crucial role in enabling the world’s response to climate change. Renewable energy sources and capture technology, for example, offer great promise long-term, but need more time and sustained investment to drive down cost, prove reliable and be broadly practical. In the meantime, technology exists today – with much more in the pipeline – to enable significant energy efficiencies (e.g., reducing energy consumption, emissions and waste) while also maximizing operational performance. The key is digitalization and automation of downstream processes. We can make a meaningful difference now while making meaningful progress for future generations.
