Episode Synopsis

Come and join the conversation as I chat to the gorgeous Lucy Kane!

From growing up in a showbiz family, Lucy is incredibly grounded and such a kind soul! Her early memories of singing ALL the time, even subconsciously humming during conversations with friends, music has always been in her heart.

Even at the tender age of 6 Lucy was featured on the soundtrack for the film Charlotte's Web, following which she was offered a recording contract, she tells me about the difficult decision she faced and weighing up not being able to have a normal childhood if she was to pursue that avenue at that time.

We chat about her amazing journey on ITV's The Voice, some behind the scenes gossip and the fear that she felt stood there waiting for those chairs to turn! Lucy cites it as one of the most terrifying moments ever!

She talks me through the exciting turn of events following the show, opportunities that opened up to her and the unlocking of her true passion which is songwriting! This allowing her creativity to flow, not being pigeon holed, especially as she has such a varied taste in music genres, having grown up with so many incredible musical influences. Not only that but writing a song with her brother Jack and collaborating, what a talented family!

We discuss insecurities, the way we feel about ourselves as women, the pressure on young girls today with the influx of social media, and take a trip down memory lane back to the days of crimps and cat's cradle!

Lucy tells me about the return of panto and the joy of having a live audience after the pandemic, and the special bonds that are formed when you're in the "bubble" of constant rehearsing and performing.

It's clear to see that Lucy's heart and soul lies in songwriting, her face lighting up when talking about her recent publishing deal, working on creating songs for other artists, it is her true path!

So many exciting things on the horizon for this lovely lady, she is just wonderful and I cannot wait to see what's next for her! Thankyou Lucy it was an utter joy to chat to you!
