This new Seminar at All Nations Biblical Study Center will introduce students to a selection of early Jewish and Christian writings that grew up alongside the biblical text. These writings provide a window into the world in which the biblical text emerged. Collectively, they help provide a fuller understanding of the message of the Bible.Course topics include an introduction to the Apocrypha, the Pseudepigrapha, the Dead Sea Scrolls, Apocalyptic Literature, Rabbinic Literature, the writings of the Early Church Fathers, the works of Josephus, Philo, and the processes that led to the formation of the biblical canon.
