Jesus had a strange way of trying to attract followers. He told people to repent! As Jesus began preaching, his message was simple: “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” (Mark 1:15). Jesus fished for people’s souls by calling people to repent and believe in him for forgiveness and salvation. But he didn’t stop there. As he called people to follow him, he said, “Come, follow me, and I will send you out to fish for people” (Mark 1:17). Just like Jesus cares about people’s souls, he sends Christians out to fish for people too, by calling them to repent and find forgiveness in Jesus.
