Episode Synopsis
Fiona Lovatt is a New Zealand poet and teacher based in Kano, northern Nigeria. She founded ‘Books Without Borders’ – a project that helped supply books to 190 libraries across Nigeria.
Fiona moved to Nigeria in 2011 to train community teachers in an accelerated educational programme. Fiona shares stories of the realities of life in Nigeria online in an effort to raise awareness and to gain support for community projects.
In 2015 the Lovatt Foundation was founded. It serves as an umbrella for high value, grass-root level, long-term projects in the red zone of Northern Nigeria.
