For the season of Advent, Immanuel is departing from the Revised Common Lectionary and following a theme called Words for the Beginning, which is a series of blessings for this season of new beginnings, especially in uncertain and anxious times.  We also began Advent a week early this year to accommodate some events in our congregational life. So, this podcast is for the Third Sunday in Advent, which was for us December 8, 2024.  The theme for this week is “Do the Good that is Yours to Do” and the Good Word comes from Luke 3:7-18.  In this story we meet John the Baptist at the side of the river, inviting unlikely folks - tax collectors and soldiers - into the Jesus movement, which was just getting started.
