Your objective is to be Christlike, to think with the mind of Christ. “It is no longer I but Christ in me” (Gal 2:20). Daily you face three enemies that will try to keep you from achieving your objective: the world, the flesh (your sin nature), and the deceptions of the devil. These enemies will attempt to keep you from growing to spiritual maturity. The world and the details of life are always there trying to lure and distract you. God mandates you not to be conformed to this world or the things of this world. “Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may prove what is the will of God that which is good and acceptable” (Rom 12:2). You can’t serve God in the energy of the flesh. You must be filled with the Holy Spirit. “Those in the flesh cannot please God” (Rom 8:8). Personal love for God is your strongest motivation to counter the three enemies. “If you love Me you will obey Me” (John 14:15).
