“Above all else guard your heart for everything you do flows from it” (Prog 4:23). Scripture distinguishes between the heart and the mind. The mind is where you assimilate information, and the heart is where you store the information ready to be recalled. Your thoughts can be hijacked if you’re not careful. You guard your heart with discretion and understanding that comes from divine wisdom. When you learn the Word of God under the ministry of a well-qualified pastor and comply with it, it’s called divine wisdom. The Word of God is the belt of truth. “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right… think on these things” (Phil 4:8). Concentrating on these things is how you keep your mind from being hijacked by cosmic distortion, the lies of the world. “Set your minds on the things above, not on earthly things” (Col 3:2).
