Divine discipline comes from God’s justice and love. He does it in grace to correct us and teach us before we self-destruct. “Whatever a man sows, this he will also reap” (Gal 6:7). Divine discipline is to wake us up, encourage us to get in fellowship with the Holy Spirit, and use our free will to get into God’s plan. “Grievous punishment is for him who forsakes the way and he who hates the reproof of God shall die” (Proverbs 15:10).
