Listen "The Oxford Group’s 5 C’s (part 5)"
Episode Synopsis
Send us a textThe fifth item in this list of five C’s is Continuance. The placing of this word continuance makes a lot of sense, only compare the list to the 12 steps. The word continuance holds so much meaning as a pointer to the 12-step program that I have decided to use two episodes to discuss it.In this episode, I would like to use this word continuance as a pointer to the 10th, 11th step. As a reminder the 10th step is I continue to take personal inventory and when I am wrong, promptly admit it. And the 11th step is I seek through prayer and meditation to improve my contact with God, praying only for knowledge of his will for me and the power to carry that out.The connection to step number 10 is obvious because the word continue is included in this step itself. This step means that the suggestion is to continue to look at ourselves, especially in those areas that we discussed in both the fourth and fifth steps. Of course, that’s not all. We need to always be aware of new character defects or shortcomings that rear their ugly heads.Step 11 is also a continuation of the third step. We must, kind of, check if we are attempting to follow God’s will. It is suggested that we do this through prayer and meditation. If you are familiar with my previous writings and podcasts, you will know that my idea of prayer is not one of speaking, but of listening. This is how I continue in my spiritual program. Of course, to me, this whole 12 step is a spiritual one program is a spiritual one, given to us by God.
