Cancer doesn't stop because there's a global pandemic. Just as the world was shutting down, Suzanne Bissett Vanderhoff, well known local TV show host of Your Life Arizona, in Phoenix, AZ, received the news no one ever wants to hear.  After a routine mammogram, the doctor had found a tumor. It was cancer. Suzanne has spent the past 7 months undergoing a double mastectomy, chemotherapy treatments, and radiation. In the middle of the greatest global health crisis anyone alive has ever known. In the interview, Suzanne talks honestly and openly about receiving the news and how she managed the next 7 months of treatment. It wasn't easy. We discuss receiving the news, and processing the shock of a sudden aggressive breast cancer diagnosis. Suzanne shares details about her story and how difficult it was to go through many of the procedures, meetings, doctors visits and treatments *alone* because of the current global pandemic. Suzanne's optimism and energy is inspiring and incredible. Sharing with us the perspective we gain from the really hard things we go through in life and what the things are that really help get us though the toughest moments. She even talks about why showing and sharing some of the struggle with our kids rather than hiding the difficulties can be how our kids learn, grow, feel empowered and stronger. A true light for others, Suzanne's message is for everyone to get a mammogram. It's the best preventative measure we can take and it's a gift to ourselves.
