Listen "Clean Break - Week 2 - (2/23/2025)"
Episode Synopsis
In our exploration of faith today, we delve into the challenging concept of 'taking up our cross' as taught by Jesus in Luke 9:23-27. This powerful metaphor invites us to consider what it truly means to follow Christ - not a path of comfort and prosperity, but one of self-denial and sacrifice. We're called to die to our old selves daily, surrendering our worldly desires and appetites to pursue a deeper relationship with God. This message challenges the popular 'prosperity gospel,' reminding us that our faith isn't about accumulating wealth or success, but about finding our ultimate satisfaction and security in Christ alone. As we reflect on this, we're encouraged to examine our own lives: What crosses are we bearing? Are we truly denying ourselves for the sake of following Jesus? This teaching urges us to shift our focus from earthly treasures to heavenly ones, finding joy not in what we possess, but in how we can serve and glorify God through our lives. This sermon was first preached by Pastor Jason Mitchell at Springfield Church of God on February 23, 2025.
