I sang and played with several country bands in the 50's and also played clarinet and saxaphone in old tyme orchestras. In 1963 I started manufacturing a Norwegian product called lefse, under the brand name countryside lefse. Today countryside Lefse is the the largest manufacturer of hand rolled lefse in the United States. I gave up singing and touring professionally in the 60's to focus on family, lefse business and raising polled Hereford beef cattle, and running the popular Countryside Drive Inn,a favorite dining and hanging out place for the local people. In 1992 tradgedy struck while fishing at my cabin on Potatoe Lake in Northern Wisconsin. I suffered a sever heart attack, my heart stopped for several minutes, fast action by the perimedics were able to restart my heart beating again, but there was some permanent damagewhich stopped me from continuing my business lifestyle. My second oldest son Marshall purchased the business in 1996 and has continued building on one of the area most successful and largest specialty food manufacturing business of all time. My brother Lance who also shares Ron's passion for music has a recording studio and for years we have been making recordings of country favorites and we would like to share them with you in this podcast. Enjoy! Ron Olson
