Listen "RIISE Podcast #10 with Kaylee Meyer and Sean English "
Episode Synopsis
This episode features a new host, Kaylee Meyer. Kaylee is now taking over hosting the podcast and to ensure a smooth transition, she interviewed former host Sean English. Kaylee and Sean talk about the new direction of RIISE, Seans story on how he lost his leg, and how to sp awareness in our community.
RIISE is a new student-organization on Purdue University's campus. RIISE stands for Reinventing the Interface of Inclusivity, Sports and Engineering. Our mission? Together, we strive to raise awareness for Paralympic sports around the world and pursue projects at the interface of inclusivity, sports and engineering. RIISE was created at Purdue University, one of the best engineering hubs in the US. Therefore, we plan to use our platform to showcase Paralympic excellence around the world while pursuing projects and hosting events to improve sports accessibility in our local community and beyond. We are a club made up of students from different backgrounds and disciplines, striving together towards a world where athletes at all levels have the means and support to play and perform at their full potential.
Kaylee is the president of RIISE and coach of the local Wheelchair Basketball team, the Lafayette Spinners. The direction of this podcast is the share more about the organization RIISE instead of interviewing athletes. While we love bringing Paralympic excellence to our platform, we have decided that telling local stories and more Purdue-relevant stories will be most impactful in following out our mission statement.
