Listen "For the Deaf, By the Deaf, and Other Conversations About Interpersonal Communication "
Episode Synopsis
Dr. Darrin Griffin, associate professor, in the Department of Communication Studies talks about a class he talk about bar-b-que (who knew?) and then discusses the very important research he does as it relates to communication with deaf communities. If you think about it, when you hear a tornado siren go off or a fire alarm go off, not all of those mechanisms are designed in a way to help individuals with hearing loss. Dr. Griffin has done research, much of it funded, to help us better understand the challenges and potential solutions to this real-world problem.
As a quick note, we did have a small issue with this recording, so about halfway through, you may hear a slight disconnect with our conversation, but we have edited it so it flows as smoothly as possible.
