Widely used static seals are reinforced graphite sheet. The mechanical properties on the seal interface are examined in this study which is significant to the sealing performance. Based on an elastic-plastic material and test rig structure properties, the study uses finite element simulations. In the same test rig, the compression-resilience curve is measured. During unloading and loading, the simulations show the changes in the deformation distribution and contact pressure.
