True Christian love is not just emotional kindness; it is a daily choice to give, to forgive, and to serve even when it hurts.In today’s Gospel, Jesus speaks directly and honestly: “Whoever does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:27).He is telling us that discipleship is costly. Love is costly. To love God and others means to give up selfishness, pride, and even comfort.Think of parents who wake up early to provide for their children, a priest who serves tirelessly despite fatigue, or a Christian student who chooses honesty over cheating. Each of these small crosses shows real love.Concrete Example:A missionary in Congo once shared how he had to walk long distances through rain and mud to reach a remote village for Mass.
