Listen "Outspoken - Ashton & Chris"
Episode Synopsis
S1 EP08 - Today’s show touches a lot of different topics but at its heart is a journey of healing.
Today we talk about Christina Birch and Ashton Lambies’ idiosyncratic rise to the top of USA cycling, as well as the off script way they handled their career goals being derailed by COVID - 19. At the heart of our conversation is a message to the power of finding your own place when it seems there isn’t on for you, and never relinquishing who you are, and what you stand for.
In a year that has seen the world suffer a health crisis and a month where the world has taken to the streets in a demand for racial equality we have been trying to figure out where sport can fits into the picture as a positive catalyst for progress and change.
We recently spoke with basketball legend Reggie Miller about the role of sport in a time like this and his comment was that sport has the power to heal, and to provide a platform of example. We have seen major changes in the NFL and the NASCAR over the last week and so we got to thinking about how sport can bring about healing, and change in subtle and personal ways.
And that brings us to the stories of Chris and Ashton as told, by Ashton and Chris.
Christina and Ashton would like to especially thank Kuat Racks for supporting their escape adventure. Martin is outfitted with the NV 2.0 rack with 2-bike add-on and the Pivot V2 arm; Christina continued her COVID escape to Arizona and Montana with the Sherpa 2.0 rack. Kuat Racks keeps us ready for adventure at the drop of a hat... or rather, at the drop of an N95 mask.
