Episode Synopsis

Ep. 010- It’s safe to assume that you or someone you know has been at least brushed by a struggle with mental health. If that stands true for you today’s very real and raw conversation with Jesse Cody aka. "Boston Mule" of Hike The Good Hike will help you feel a little less alone. Jesse vulnerably shares the story of his longtime battle with feelings of inadequacy and fear of failure that led him down the path to suicidal thoughts. The turning point came on his 40th birthday when Jesse was overwhelmed by the presence of unconditional love. This love ultimately saved his life and led to the decision that “a nice long walk” was exactly what his soul needed to get out of his chaos. Shortly after he set off to hike the Appalachian trail and thus (unbeknownst to him) Hike The Good Hike movement and non-profit in the making was born. This is Jesse’s inspiring story. We also cover:Jesse’s story and the internal battles that led him to hikeHow LOVE is what ultimately saved Jesse’s lifeThe Genesis of “Hike the Good Hike”The healing powers of nature The role getting quiet played in bringing truth to the lies Jesse was believingSigns from the Universe along the wayChallenges Jesse faced on the trail and how he kept goingConfidence through perseverance and resilienceHow sharing his story openly has saved othersTherapy as a powerful tool in self discovery and healingThe impact (both positive and negative) social media has on the youthBuilding the HTGH foundation and what’s to comeJesse’s vision and mission for the future Where he’s hiking next!Read Jesse’s official Bio and more information on Hike The Good Hike in the show notes.Follow Jesse on Instagram  @hikethegoodhikeLearn more and support Hike The Good HikeWe reference these:A Walk In The Woods - Bill BrysonYouth Mental Health ProjectMental Health Resources: American Foundation For Suicide Prevention SAMHSA HotlineSuicide Prevention HotlineThanks for listening to the Movement Soul Collective Podcast!
