Microplastics in Freshwater Systems

Welcome to our latest podcasts on Microplastics. This collaborative Irish research project research is funded by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and involves the Marine and Freshwater Research Centre (MFRC), Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, the Centre for Water Resources Research (CWRR) and the Earth Institute, University College Dublin, Wageningen University and Carey Building Contractors. This multidisciplinary study is exploring the sources, pathways and environmental fate of microplastics in freshwater environments in Ireland. I chat to our team of biologists, limnologists and environmental engineers to find out what exactly are microplastics, why it is important to research them? and what they are finding?
