Listen "Your 2022 Midterm Election Report Card with Professor Brian Calfano"
Episode Synopsis
Conservative leadership could stand to endure an extreme makeover after the Republican Party was denied a red wave in the 2022 midterm elections. Where voters sent a clear message, they're tired of the partisanship and gridlock in Washington and they want their elected officials to work together to get things done. Abortion and protecting democracy were top priorities for voters this election cycle. After underperforming will the Republicans rid themselves of Trumpism and create a conservative agenda which meets the needs of voters today? Which they’ll need to do if they want to win elections again consistently. Meanwhile on the democratic side of the aisle they overperformed and will maintain control of the US Senate. Therefore, can they use their slim majority to continue to execute their agenda and deliver for voters. GOP Republicans will have the slimmest of majorities in the House. Which makes the overarching question is can a divided government be effective? To answer some these lingering questions Brian Calfano Professor of Political Science and Journalism at the University of Cincinnati joined me this week to provide further perspective.
