Listen "Forgiveness and Choices: The Redemption Story of Brandon Puffer"
Episode Synopsis
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and The National Institute of drug abuse eventually three out of four people who suffer with addiction eventually recover. Meanwhile, Vice Magazine says approximately 33 percent of elite athletes are addicted to a drug they took to help them overcome their pain so they could go back to performing. For former MLB pitcher Brandon Puffer “After a 15-year MLB career, I have fallen to great depths and come out the other side with important lessons I want to share with those who might find themselves facing tough obstacles or set-backs in their own lives. For me, recovering from my addiction and hardships meant filling a God-shaped hole in my heart, and I now live my life with purpose and gratitude for all that has been restored. One of my proudest roles in the life I lead today is being the coach for a non-profit baseball organization that helps young people develop their baseball talent, and this is one of the many ways I plan to lead others in living lives they, too, can be proud of. I've been through many ups and downs, but what has been most important has been overcoming these low points and not allowing them to define me; my faith has guided me through these dark times with grace, courage, and the utmost determination.” He joined me this week to tell me more.
