Listen "Genesis Chapter 16 Explained"
Episode Synopsis
In Genesis Chapter 16, we learn what happens when people grow impatient waiting on God’s promises. This story centers around Abram and his wife Sarai. God had already promised Abram that he would have many descendants, but years had gone by, and they still had no child. Sarai was getting older and frustrated that nothing seemed to be happening. Instead of continuing to wait on God’s timing, she decided to take things into her own hands.Sarai had an Egyptian servant named Hagar. In her impatience, Sarai told Abram to have a child with Hagar, thinking that maybe this was how God’s promise would come true. Abram agreed, and Hagar became pregnant. But once Hagar realized she was carrying a baby and Sarai wasn’t, she began to look down on her mistress. This caused tension and jealousy between the two women, and Sarai became angry and bitter.Sarai complained to Abram about the situation, even though it was her idea. Abram didn’t want to get in the middle of their conflict, so he told Sarai she could do whatever she wanted with Hagar. Sarai began treating Hagar so harshly that Hagar ran away into the wilderness.Join Ya Girl Renae As she explains each chapter of the bible.
