Episode Synopsis

What we not fuxing with today is facades, and yes we are going to use Jada and Will as the poster children for the pressures faced by Uppity Black Women and Uppity Black Men to maintain the charade of marriage, even to their detriment. While we have all been well informed about the sometimes wacky world of Jada and Will, this latest revelation caught many by surprise. In a recent interview, Jada disclosed that she and Will have been living completely separate lives since 2016, but have been presenting to the world that they are a married couple. While none of us are privy to the conversations between Jada and Will, what I do know is this revelation is a framework for discussing the intense pressure to preserve the heavily structured relationship label of marriage.  Choosing to entertain a different relationship structure, including divorce, puts the Black Woman at risk for loss of incredibly valuable social currency. Thus, the willingness to entertain facades and maintain relationships based in misery is incredibly strong. This is certainly a pathway to a slow spiritual death, and of course YOU deserve much better than that. To know that you deserve better - one must first know love of self. I always find myself returning to that - love. Love is always the starting place.REFERENCES IN TODAYS EPISODE Eric Thomas, ChargeEric Thomas, Covenant vs. ContractCard 1: SOUL - What Does My Soul Need Me to Know: Seven Sisters - CreativityCard 2: MIND - What am I really thinking or feeling?: Queen Nandi - IntuitionCard 3: BODY - What is happening with me physically?: Jumbie - Masks Excerpt of Interview of Jada Pinkett by Hoda KotbThich Nhat Hanh, Peace Is Every StepBell Hooks, Sisters of the Yam: Black Women and Self-Recovery, Chapter 9: Living to LoveIf you are an Uppity Black Woman, ready to say: I.Can't.Fux.With.You!
