The walking bruise informed us that it was not in our interests to wear what he calls "pterodactyl wings" on our faces. These dinosaur references are in response to the false eyelashes that many women wear. Although seemingly innocuous, Mr. Spears felt it necessary to single out the Sistahs in his unsolicited commentary. When examined deeper, it is another example of the "right" many feel they have to comment on the Black Woman's Body and her choices, from eyelashes, to hair, to weight. When these comments are couched in humor, the misogynoir of it, often slides right past us. But I see you, Aries, Chris, Kevin, and Dave. And I say, (and I know my fellow #ubw will join me), I.Don't.Give.A.Fux.What.You.Say.Bout.Me."
