Episode Synopsis

The sh*t we are not fuxing with today is denying ourselves the confessions of people who have hurt us. We will use the framework of reconciliation/confession as used by the Catholic Church to demonstrate what individuals must do when they have wronged others. I use a recent chance encounter with members of my ex-husbands family -  of which my daughter and I have been estranged because of the bombs my ex-husband drops regularly (feels like every Tuesday sometimes). The shrapnel from those bombs reverberate for miles and create distance and disconnection. His family cut me when I was already bleeding and never confessed their sins. I had the opportunity to ask for their confessions, and in this chance moment, they agreed. We visit the Chapter entitled: Repair, from the book, This Here Flesh, where Cole Arthur Riley says not only is confession a requirement but a debt must be paid to provide a full restoration. What that payment looks like, I am unsure, but I do know, B*tch you owe me. The Uppity Black Woman must not allow others to slink away and die a pleasant death when they have been hurt. If they made you bleed, they must confess, and then payment must be made. This is how we become whole. In this episode we also query: Who do we owe confession to? Who have we made bleed? To whom must a payment be made?SHOW NOTESIf you have not held your spot for the Soul Flex Retreat at The Retreat Costa Rica November 5-10, what are you waiting for?!
