As a city, Kelowna residents time and time again, associate crime and sense of safety directly to social issues. To put action to the issue, Darren Caul’s role as City of Kelowna’s Community Safety Director was established in 2019. With responsibility for city staff supporting RCMP, RCMP contract oversight, Bylaw Services and a range of initiatives to reduce crime and increase sense of safety through the community.Host Rick Maddison and Scott Lanigan, have an educational discussion with Darren, who brings 30 years’ experience including work with community organizations, victims of crime, and offenders alongside social and criminal justice agencies. He speaks about the stigmatic cycle of homelessness and why it's the largest, most complex issue in our society.
