Listen "Dispensational or Covenant Theology? Making Sense of the Bible’s Story"
Episode Synopsis
In this episode, we take a closer look at two terms that can feel intimidating: dispensational theology and covenant theology. These are not just technical labels, but frameworks that shape how Christians read and understand the Bible. These terms can scare people at first, but they’re really just ways of making sense of God’s story from Genesis to Revelation. Everyone brings assumptions, experiences, and prior teaching to Scripture, and recognizing those frameworks helps us engage the Bible and each other more thoughtfully and charitably. We’ll trace what each framework emphasizes, where they overlap, and why defining theological categories matters; they help us read Scripture carefully rather than letting our assumptions shape it. Some embrace one approach, some the other, and some are hearing these terms for the first time, but all of us benefit from understanding the lenses through which we read God’s Word.Book Recommendation: (For unfortunate reasons, our original recommendation is on hold.
