Growth doesn't collapse because pressure shows up. It collapses when authority is abandoned. Hebrews reminds us that submission isn't about control, it's about care. God places authority as protection for the soul, not as a restriction on purpose. The moments when obedience feels heavy are often the moments where real formation is happening. Maturity isn't proven by how fast you move, but by what you refuse to walk away from when staying costs you something. Many believers start strong but grow restless when the process slows down or becomes uncomfortable. The temptation is to detach, to pull away emotionally or spiritually, and to tell ourselves that if this were really God, it wouldn't feel this confining. But Scripture tells a different story. Authority protects growth long enough for strength to form. Leaving early doesn't make you free, it leaves you unfinished. Beginners often interpret discomfort as a sign to exit. Mature believers recognize discomfort as a signal to stay planted. Growth under authority sharpens discernment, builds endurance, and forms roots deep enough to withstand storms. Just like a tree pulled up too early never develops stability, a life that keeps restarting never reaches depth. Mistakes under authority aren't failures, they're feedback. Correction wires maturity when we stay long enough to receive it. Repetition under oversight builds strength, while constant resetting delays progress. What feels restrictive today may be the very structure that keeps you standing tomorrow. If you abandon authority, you abandon formation. But if you remain, something stronger is being shaped beneath the surface. Staying teaches others how to stay. Submission doesn't weaken calling, it preserves it. Growth is not proven by what you start, it's proven by what you don't abandon. Today, resist the urge to withdraw. Stay where you're tempted to detach.
