1 Peter 1:6-7 (NASB) - “In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”Life is filled with trials—some unexpected, some painful. In those moments, we often ask, Why is this happening to me? Where is God in all of this? But Scripture reminds us that trials are not random; they serve a purpose. Just as gold is refined in fire to remove impurities, God allows trials to refine our faith and shape our character.God is in control. Our trials do not last forever; they are measured by His wisdom. He knows exactly what we need to grow spiritually. Sometimes, He allows difficulties to teach us dependence on Him, to strengthen our faith, or to prevent us from going down the wrong path. Rather than asking, Why me? we should ask, Lord, what do You want me to learn?The refining process is not easy. It can feel overwhelming, discouraging, and even painful. But God’s purpose is to make us reflect the image of Christ. Just as a refiner knows the gold is pure when he sees his reflection in it, God desires to see the character of Christ in us.When trials come, we have a choice—will we resist God’s refining work, or will we trust Him? True faith is proven in hardships. When we continue to trust and rejoice in Him despite our struggles, our faith brings glory to God.Are you going through a difficult season? Take a moment to surrender your struggles to God. Trust that He is using this time to refine and strengthen your faith. Remember, trials don’t define you; they shape you into who God wants you to be.Prayer:Lord, I trust that You are in control, even when life is difficult. Help me see my trials as opportunities to grow closer to You. Strengthen my faith, refine my heart, and shape me to reflect Christ more each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
