We make choices every day. We can entertain discouragement and give up or overcome it. That's the devotion today: Do Not Give Up. Scripture said in Matthew 20:31, “The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!"  In desperation, two blind men cry out to be healed by Jesus. They beg for Christ's mercy to heal them (Matt. 20: 29-34), but the people stop them, yet they persist in faith. Amazingly, Jesus performed a miracle by restoring their sight. The Saviour met their need simply because of His compassion (v. 34). What difference could it make if they listened to the crowd's rebuke and gave up? They will not experience the tangible work of Christ's compassionate heart. Surely, they missed out on the blessing of God's miraculous power. But they persist in faith, and it pays off. Human words can put a limit on God's blessing in your life. Don't meditate and dwell on any negative, discouraging words. Do not let them stop you from believing in the Lord's compassion and power to do miracles. Don't let discouragement stop you from receiving God's blessing. Persist in faith in whatever need you have. God is compassionate and powerful. Keep believing. Keep doing what is right. You can rest assured of His mighty works at the right time according to His will and glory. Choose to persist in faith today and do not give up.  May you persist in faith and not give up, for God is compassionate. Amen.
