Listen "Alive in Christ"
Episode Synopsis
Ephesians 2:4-5 (ESV) - “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.”Without Jesus, Paul says we were spiritually dead. We breathed, worked, laughed, and planned, yet our souls were separated from God, shaped by the pull of the world, the lies of the enemy, and the cravings of our own sinful nature. Death in Scripture is separation, and that was our reality: cut off from the Life-Giver, unable to rescue ourselves. Then come two words that change everything: “But God.”Rich in mercy and moved by a great love, God did for us what we could never do for ourselves. While we were dead, He made us alive with Christ. He did not improve us—He resurrected us. And He did not stop there. He raised us up and seated us with Christ in the heavenly places. In other words, your position has changed. You’re no longer under the old rule of sin and shame; you now share in Christ’s victory and access the blessings that are yours in Him.Why did God do this? Grace—“by grace you have been saved through faith… it is the gift of God.” Grace is God’s love acting on our behalf when we had nothing to offer but need. Paul says that in the coming ages God will keep on demonstrating “the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”This new life also brings a new purpose. We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works. We don’t do good to be saved; we do good because we’ve been saved. The One who raised us now lives in us, shaping our desires and directing our steps.Do you still live as if you’re in the “graveyard”—condemned, powerless, or defined by your past? Bring that to Jesus who makes the dead alive.Ask the Spirit to highlight one “good work” prepared for you today—a person to encourage, a habit to surrender, a step of obedience to take.PrayerFather, thank You for loving me when I was dead in sin. Jesus, thank You for raising me with You and giving me a new place and a new purpose. Holy Spirit, lead me to walk in the good works You’ve prepared—free from shame, full of grace, and alive to God. Amen.
