In this week’s edition of Gateway to Africa, Wilderness Safaris, the operator of safari camps and lodges in seven African countries clinches the coveted position of “overall winner” of African Responsible Tourism at an awards ceremony during the WTM in Cape Town. Heidi van der Watt of Better Tourism Africa, the organisers of African Responsible Tourism tells why and defines what responsible tourism is. Also in the programme, Slindile Msweni, the marketing officer of iSimangaliso Wetland Authority talks to us about the Sodwana Bay Festival which she sees as the first of its kind in sixteen years. Previously known as Sodwana Bay Shootout, the festival takes place from the 27th of April to May 1st.
