Listen "Microwaves"
Episode Synopsis
MICROWAVES — TV DINNER is an experimental sound piece playing on the field of auditory storytelling. Through sometimes robotic meditative incentives, and eclectic echoes, MICROWAVES — TV DINNER explores aspects of our daily lives where technology and the search for comfort and convenience shape the modern human experience.Putting us in the company of a microwavable TV dinner tray, this piece attempts to question the ways modern technology is affecting not only our senses, but also our lives. Chosen symbol of the modern routine, the TV dinner tray is a token of solitude. Loss of a sense of home, of the experience of gathering and sharing a meal, this sound piece points out ways that today, we’re not so different from this commodity of our daily lives. A life of blinding artificial light, surrounded by the buzzing sound of air conditioning vents, crowds and the beeping of various machines, to finally come home to try and find some comfort and warmth thanks to some invisible, electromagnetic waves.
