When you hear the word “English,” what do you think? Do you think of the language? Or perhaps that old literary standby, Shakespeare? Maybe you experience flashbacks to your freshman comp classes in school. Two students at the University of Northern Iowa decided to tackle the many personalities of English by diving into this discipline and seeing what makes it tick. Eve Sanchez, a Master’s student in English Studies, and Allyn Oxley, who’s studying Digital Media and Professional Writing, recently sat down to discuss all things English--including some unexpected dimensions of a field we usually associate with Hemingway and Austen.
