Listen "WoDRC Edition: Kate Devitt - Chief Scientist, TASDCRC"
Episode Synopsis
How do we trust trusted systems? How do we assure systems? What ethics base do we use? During the recent World of Drones and Robotics Congress, Andrew Crowe had a long chat with Kate Devitt. Kate is the Chief Scientist of the Trusted Autonomous Systems Defence Cooperative Research Centre (TASDCRC), located here in Brisbane, Queensland. Kate is hugely experienced with unmanned and autonomous systems, as both the TASDCRC Chief Scientist and Adjunct Associate Professor at UQ. Kate uses her expertise in philosophy (epistemology, cognitive science and ethics) to interrogate and build autonomous systems that incorporate ethical, legal, and regulatory structures to achieve social license to operate and trusted adoption. The conversation quickly moved to trusting trusted systems, assurance and ethics before Kate turned the tables and asked questions of Mirragin Unmanned Systems!
