Pastor Jim Kirkland is Executive Director of Christian Chaplains and Coaching. He joins us to discuss overcoming serious sin. He begins by drawing a distinction between God forgiving us and yet allowing the earthly consequences of sin to unfold in our lives. So often after abortion we may believe any subsequent adversity in our lives is God's judgement for that abortion. But the sacrifice of Christ on the cross has paid the penalty for every sin. Jim points to the Thief on the Cross as an example of unearned and unmerited grace from God on the sole basis of faith and belief in Jesus.He exhorts pastors to engage their people according to Ephesians 4, "The pastor or teacher who equips the saints for ministry."
