Listen "Country Today - October 27th"
Episode Synopsis
The US Department of Agriculture has confirmed plans to raise the quota on Argentine beef imports. So what does this mean for Australia, if our largest export market quadruple's low-tariff imports from a different country? As the growing season unfolds, many farmers have faced the tough call to cut their crops early for hay, with grain yields looking uncertain. Swan Hill agronomist Billy Forrester, says while some Mallee farmers have taken that path, others are still holding on. Feed Central has launched its new Hay Safe webpage, a hub to help farmers, contractors, and families stay safe around hay stacks and large bales. With many Victorian farmers having made the tough decision to cut crops early for hay, coupled with the weekend rain, the CFA is reminding farmers about being vigilant against spontaneous combustion of hay bales and stacks. Australian Government farm business lender The Regional Investment Corporation will host a free online ‘Get RIC Ready’ webinar Wednesday (29th October) to help farmers learn more about applying for a RIC low-interest loan.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
