In so many of the encounters that Jesus had with normal, everyday people, it seemed like Jesus was the one doing the engaging. Sometimes there would be the occasional person who would engage Him though. Then there's this man who is paralyzed. Neither he nor Jesus engaged one another. It was a group of the paralytic's friends who helped arrange this meeting. Friend is a word that we will throw around in a variety of ways, but Jesus valued friendship in a deep deep way and because of this encounter of friendship, Jesus gave the man and His friends exactly what they were looking for.
