Listen "Ep. 34 The Miseducation of Entrepreneurship "
Episode Synopsis
Why don’t black people support black businesses? To expand on that why don’t black businesses support other black businesses? I have noticed this trend. People claim that they will support businesses and will help out and purchase items, but when the time comes- they are nowhere to be found. Black people do a lot of talking and not a lot of doing. This trend of not supporting one another is why many do not succeed. I am not saying hire every black person you meet or purchase from every black person you meet, but why not support those that actually have talent and potential. Or how about mentoring someone? In this episode, LaSonya Thompson, a resident of Brooklyn, New York, is an attorney, consultant, business coach, and mentor. She promotes Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in media arts & entertainment and has served as a Film Critic for FilmMonthly.com, a Producer of short films, and a contributor to the book, Film School & Beyond. LaSonya was the recipient of a Spotlight Cinema Networks Grant for film curation, audience development, and marketing at the annual InterFaith Film & Media Festival.
