Listen "Episode 21 - Does Faith in God REALLY Make a Difference?"
Episode Synopsis
I’ve learned that some of the most authentic dialogue in podcasting happens when the official recording has ended, and host and guest, connected by some common human experience, share their hearts with each other. That happened to me again last week. I was guest to a young mom who has quickly become an online influencer in the Type 1 diabetes world. She hosts a popular podcast for fellow T1D moms designed to support them as they care for children living with the disease. My work caught her eye because of my focus on self-care…but that’s not what we talked about after we stopped recording for her podcast. No, that’s when the super transparent sharing happened, and I was talking to this mama about the stuff that can seem forbidden to talk about in our world today…God’s presence in the mess.
Does faith in God really make a difference to moms raising kids with chronic conditions? Does it matter to adult daughters and sons supporting elderly parents as bodies fail and they finish their earthly journeys? Does faith in God make any difference at all to a husband sitting bedside as his wife recovers from chemo or open-heart surgery?
I know it’s taboo in some forums, but let’s talk about faith in the mess of family caregiving. Hang with me for just a few minutes as I share what I’ve learned over the last 16 years. If you are a person who’s wondered what difference it would make to trust God is present your mess, I’ve been where you are.
Does faith in God REALLY make a difference? Even with all the perspective I’ve shared on the podcast, sometimes I feel like I don’t talk enough about this fundamental question.
This may be fresh perspective or a simple reminder for you. Either way, I’ve got some stories of remarkable caregivers that are worth sharing. I invite you to listen in.
