Alexis reviews Case 47 from the Pediatric Morning Report book.
A 20-month-old female is brought into the emergency department via ambulance. Her mother had called 911 after the child became unresponsive and exhibited convulsions of her arms and legs. The patient’s convulsions stopped after approximately 5 minutes and had ended prior to the arrival of the paramedics. She had developed fever, rhinorrhea, and cough and has been less playful than normal that day. The patient’s mother states that her temperature was 103.3°F 1 hour prior to the event.
