The Penguin, one of Batman’s most enduring and unique adversaries, is a complex villain who has been part of the Batman mythos since his debut in Detective Comics #58 in 1941. Created by writer Bill Finger and artist Bob Kane, the Penguin, whose real name is Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, is an intelligent, cunning, and ruthless crime lord whose appearance and persona sharply contrast with Batman's more traditional rogue’s gallery of supervillains.
