Listen "All The Money in the World"
Episode Synopsis
This week we review the 2017 biographical crime thriller film directed by Ridley Scott.
Based on John Pearson's 1995 book Painfully Rich: The Outrageous Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Heirs of J. Paul Getty, it depicts the events surrounding the 1973 kidnapping of John Paul Getty III and the refusal of his grandfather, the multi-billionaire oil tycoon J. Paul Getty, to cooperate with the kidnappers' extortion demands.
The film stars Michelle Williams as Gail Harris Getty, John Paul Getty III's mother, Christopher Plummer as Getty, and Mark Wahlberg as Fletcher Chace, an adviser of the Getty family.
We kick off with the Aussie telling us a recent dentist story and the Scotsman asks queries the etiquette on bill splitting.
The boys are on total opposite sides of the fence when it comes to this film. An "absolute waste of time" says the Scotsman.
We discuss the Kevin Spacey controversy. Kevin played the original role and 2 months before world wide release he was recast by Christopher Plummer due to the sexual misconduct allegations.
"Why did Jean Paul Getty pull the painting off the wall at the end"- we debate the reason for this - was it to set off the alarm or not?
The Scotsman take an extreme dislike to Mark Wahlberg as the 'fixer' in this and feels he is totally miscast. The Aussie tells him to "stop getting into the minutia and take it for what it is". And it gets a little heated
