Episode Synopsis

Description: Dr. Jodi Jarret is a former mentor and now colleague of Dr. Branch.  Dr. Jarret is a full-time professor and also has a private practice, while also being a full-time mom. Dr. Jarret is feeling overwhelmed and exhausted trying to balance all these roles. She is wrestling with whether the "privilege" of being in spaces where there are few people like her is worth the labor and trauma involved. She feels she has been in "survival mode" her whole career. She is questioning whether she should transition out of her current roles, but is worried that may be a trauma response rather than what she truly wants. She feels she has been taking opportunities that come her way out of necessity rather than intentionally choosing her path. She is trying to discern what truly fulfills her soul.  There is a tension between her current self and her past self/survival mentality. She is trying to give herself permission to create new rules and a new identity beyond just surviving. The conversation explores unpacking the various voices and narratives, both internal and external, that are holding her back from fully embracing her new, elevated self.Lifework: 1) If you are currently in survival mode, how can you begin the process of shifting your mind set to begin living in thriving mode? 2) Unpacking the internal and external voices and narratives that are holding you back from embracing your growth and evolution.  Identify where these voices are coming from and challenging them to create a new or different narrative. 3) Transitioning from a championship mentality to a practice mentality.
