The most complex part of humanity is the human heart.So many things are happening in the heart; sometimes, these things counteract each other. For instance, the intellectual side of our heart may want one thing, but our desires or passions may have a different direction. Our emotional side may feel one thing, but our thoughts may "say" something different. The Lord wants us to have a whole heart that allows Him to have Lordship over all departments of the heart.  He, alone, can align all parts of our part in the same direction.
