Listen "#120: Menopause and pelvic health: What you need to know"

Episode Synopsis

Did you know that there are almost 10 million women in the UK with some form of bladder problem and that an estimated 1in 4 women in the UK are regularly incontinent?

I’m joined by guest expert Nikki Scott to delve into the critical topic of pelvic floor health, discussing its importance for women of all ages. We discuss how the healthcare system often addresses symptoms rather than root causes, particularly in women's health issues like incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction.

This is an area of women’s health that is so important to be better educated about so that we can all build strong pelvic floor health to ensure we can live the full, healthy life we want for ourselves. To get your started, we’re exploring daily habits that can support pelvic health, focusing on the mind-body connection, pelvic floor health, and the importance of breath work. It’s time to reduce the stigma surrounding pelvic floor issues, and create much needed awareness.

In our conversation we talk about:

Empowering women with knowledge and practical strategies to maintain their pelvic health throughout their lives.
That women are suffering in silence due to the stigma associated with incontinence and other bladder problems.
Future proofing your health versus reacting when something is wrong.
How the healthcare system often addresses symptoms rather than root causes, particularly in women's health issues like incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction.
That education on pelvic health is lacking in society.
The impact of menopause on pelvic health and increase in pelvic floor dysfunction.
The contrast between traditional Kegel exercises and the more holistic approach of Hypopressives.
Poor posture negatively impacting pelvic floor health.
How to get started building daily habits to significantly impact your pelvic health.

Nikki has been a health and fitness coach since 2009., specialising in women’s health and rehab back to exercise using Hypopressives. She had twin boys in her early thirties and this led her on her own post natal recovery journey and ultimately to discover that women’s health services are inadequate and often leave women feeling desperate and alone.

Nikki ran her own bootcamp business as well as a successful buggy version for new Mums and in 2013 discovered the power of a holistic approach using Hypopressives. She struggled for over 10 years with “Leaking” and within just 3 months of doing Hypopressives her incontinence was gone.
