The Crow's attempted rebirth serves as an example of the needlessly wasted film that we are seeing in theaters more and more, particularly when it comes to intellectual property, franchises, brands, toys, or comic books, where everything suggests that the people in charge of making money off of them don't know anything about the mythology or fictional universe they are working with.  The two primary characters, Shelly and Eric, don't really grow. Their psychological makeup is akin to that of a hastily produced TV movie, but one that was even more hurried and careless in ensuring that the opponents had at least a hint of life and intrigue. The adversaries, if Eric and Shelly are cut-outs.
