The rise in incidents of dyslexia is likely due to better awareness and diagnostic tools, as well as increased emphasis in schools on reading skills. Although there are several performance-based diagnostic tests, neurological tests have not been very successful at identifying exactly what biological factors contribute to dyslexia. There is hope though because many curricula and teaching strategies have been successful at helping children with dyslexia.
