Thanks, and enjoy the show!Be sure to show some love for the company that brought you today's bottle!https://us.thebalvenie.com/our-whisky-collection/stories-whiskies/the-sweet-toast-of-american-oak/ This is not our first speyside. In fact the majority of Scotch Bottles we have done reign from Speyside. -Funny thing is that it is not Nick’s favorite flavor when it comes to Scotches-It’s very friendly and light, but most speyside bottles lack boldness. They tend not to stand out in a crowd of speyside whiskeys I want to say that this bottle will make a move towards the front of the speyside whiskey list for us because it is finished in toasted american oak barrels, but we will have to wait and see. The Bottle: Single Malt Whiskey This is a blend of several barrels from the Balvenie Distillery and the youngest that was blended in this was 12 years old Too young for Nick 86 proof which is very typical for scotch Part of the Stories Series Each bottle has a story behind the bottleThe feel that you get to know the distillery even moreThese bottles are also a way for them to experiment First aged in ex bourbon barrelsThey bring in virgin american oak barrels from Kentucky and toast them there They then finish the whiskey in the toasted barrels Price: $90Tasting notes:Smells very young FruityNot the same flavor as toasted bourbon History: Ironically same owner as Glenfiddich Opened in 1892 (Gelnfidich opened 1887)Production starts 1893Son takes over in 1923Still use the traditional malting floorSupport the showWebsite:www.whiskeychaserspod.comFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/whiskeychaserspodcastInsta:https://www.instagram.com/whiskeychaserspodcast/TikTok:https://www.tiktok.com/@whiskeychaserspodcastThanks For Listening!
